Hamburg, 05th July 2017 - The “Global Duty of Care Awards” have been initiated by the International SOS Foundation and honour leading and innovative approaches concerning Health & Safety on a yearly basis and thus promote it to a broad audience. All companies, institutions, private organisations, but also single persons may apply. Awarded are those who contribute significantly to health and safety of employees, that are working abroad or in remote areas. The category Partnership appreciates the power of collaboration and partnership to mitigate risks to mobile workers.
The judging panel consisted of internationally recognised leaders in fields related to Duty of Care. It reviewed entries representing 17 industries and organisations in 32 countries. WINDEAcare was shortlisted already in April in the category “Partnership”.
Caspar Spreter von Kreudenstein, Managing Director at WINDEA Offshore GmbH & Co. KG, said: “The Award is again proof that WINDEAcare offers the best concept for the wellbeing and safety of our customers and especially the employees in the offshore wind industry. The WINDEAcare partner companies Northern HeliCopter, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe, Klinikum Oldenburg, EMS Maritime Offshore, IQ.medworks and WINDEA Offshore do their best every day so that the employees in the offshore wind farms feel well taken care of. We are proud to be able to support the energy transition significantly. We also thank Birger Oldorff from Reisesicherheit.de who gave us very helpful support within the application process.”
Every wind farm operator is required to provide a safety concept for the protection and care of its employees, which have to work up to 100 kilometres away from the next hospital. At the moment, WINDEAcare supports twelve wind farms in the North and Baltic Sea and eight offshore platforms.
WINDEAcare is a holistic acute and emergency medical care concept for offshore wind farms. The partners consist of Northern HeliCopter GmbH (helicopter emergency medical services/HEMS), Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. – Regionalverband Weser-Ems (emergency dispatch & support centre, offshore paramedic, offshore medical trainings), Klinikum Oldenburg AöR (medical lead, telemedicine), IQ.medworks GmbH (interdisciplinary emergency management, implementation, telemedical services) and EMS Maritime Offshore GmbH (VENTUSmarine/nautical expertise). WINDEAcare is not a separate company, but a product that exists through cooperation of the partner companies, each of whom acting independently. The product WINDEAcare is sold by WINDEA Offshore GmbH & Co. KG.
Launched in March 2012, the International SOS Foundation has the goal of improving the safety, security, health and welfare of people working abroad or on remote assignments through the study, understanding and mitigation of potential risks. It is a fully independent, non-profit organisation.
