Mr Walkemeyer started in 1994 as a service technician for wind turbines. He has continuously expanded his know-how through the career stages of service coordinator, project manager and technical sales manager at the renowned wind energy companies Siemens Windpower, AREVA and GE Renewable Energy. In April of this year, he joined RTS Wind AG as Head of the Offshore Department in a responsible position that offers many strategic and operational challenges.
Born in Salzgitter, Udo Walkemeyer came to Bremen via wind energy. Today he feels like a native of Bremen and celebrates his personal wind energy anniversary this year. What has been particularly important to him for a quarter of a century is what he best tells us himself:
"After 25 years in the wind industry, I can summarise that in the wind industry - especially in the offshore sector - the well-known technology is regularly being further developed through new innovations and experience and that new "records" are constantly being set in turbine sizes. I have therefore set myself the goal of remaining curious and constantly preparing myself and my area of responsibility for the new technology. I meet the requirements in order to be able to competently support our customers".
With this attitude, the passionate mountain biker fits in perfectly with RTS, because the wind energy service provider is expanding strongly, adapting continuously to the conditions in the industry and is on duty for its customers worldwide. The latest challenge concerns the new offshore manager: a large offshore project in Taiwan that is just starting. RTS has set up a company branch in Taiwan for this purpose. The branch manager is also Udo Walkemeyer and with this task he is entering a new field for RTS Wind AG. RTS already has its sights set on the next goal: RTS also wants to establish itself on the Taiwanese market beyond its current assignment.
