Technische Universität Hamburg TUHH Inst. f. Fluiddynamik u. Schiffstheorie

BRIEF ACCOUNT

The Institiute of Fluid Dynamics and Marine Engineering (FDS) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is a leader in the field of hydrodynamics and offshore engineering. The focus is on the development and application of numerical fluid simulations. This provides the scientific basis for the calculation of hydrodynamic and aerodynamic loads on offshore structures, such as floating and fixed-based wind-turbines.The institute's own panel method panMARE can be used to investigate complex questions about the dynamic behaviour of floating wind turbines. The institute has excellent experimental facillities for maritime applications such as a large wind tunnel and an 80 m wave tank.
