The International Zinc Association (IZA) supports and advances zinc products and markets through research, development, technology transfer and communication of the unique attributes that make zinc sustainable and essential for life.

WIND ENERGY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES (ON- AND OFFSHORE)

Offshore wind towers have been protected against corrosion with duplex systems with thermal sprayed zinc or zinc alloy coatings for more than 25 years. In order to further improve the protection of the zinc or zinc alloy layers and to color the surface, they are usually coated with epoxy resin layers and a final polyurethane topcoat, so that a so-called duplex system is formed. The lifetime of this duplex coating is more than 25 years and minimizes the coating maintenance of these towers. The IZA manages communication, standardization and evaluation of these acknowledged corrosion protection systems
