Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 22 Side Event

What job profiles and skills are needed in an offshore wind supply chain? Lessons from twenty years of offshore wind in Germany

In many regions around the globe policymakers are planning to rely on the special qualities of offshore wind energy for a climate-friendly electricity supply and for the production of “green” hydrogen. Skilled workers are needed for this. In Germany, not only have around 1500 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 7.8 GW been installed since 2009. A supply chain has also emerged that has created far more than 20,000 full-time jobs. In this Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue side event, we will discuss which job profiles have emerged in the German market, how education and training are supported and what other markets can learn from the German development.
